Fila Vintage Clothing Sale
Almost in its 100th year, Fila clothing has established itself as an internationally successful brand. Founded in Italy in a small city called biella in the shadows of the Alphs in 1911 by the Fila brothers. Fila began it's trade in the clothing industry by providing the major fashion houses in Italy with fabrics to make their designer clothes. Biella was thought to be home to some of the worlds finest fabrics for more than 600 years. This meant the area was renowned for it's specialist clothing manufactures and designers. The famous F box logo of fila clothing was designed by an Italian, Sergio Privitera who was largely introduced by pop music in the 1960's.
It was not until the 1970's that Fila Clothing moved heavily into athletics and Tennis and started producing fila clothes such as polo t shirts and tracksuits that were worn by some of the best tennis players of all time. Sporting legends Bjorn Borg, Tom Watson and Ingemar Stenmark all helped the brand reach a huge audience and from there the label has grown.
In the 1970's Fila white line was launched and this was the range that made fila a name in the tennis world. It was revolutionary in it's design with its bold use of colours and iconic design features never seen before on the tennis court. In 1985 Fila began sponsoring the USA tennis open, one of the largest tennis tournaments in the world. Some of the famous tennis stars of today Kim Clijsters, Dmitry Tursunov, Andreas Seppi, Janko Tipsarevi, James ward, Colin Fleming still play with the famous F on their chest.
Fila has also manufactured trainers which have been worn on some of the most famous courts in the world. In 2008 Fila signed a deal to make a performance and lifestyle footwear range which would be heavily influenced and based around Wimbledon. Kids all over Britain started to wear the sports wear that was seen to be expensive designer street wear.
In the 2000's Fila re released it's main designs and classic pieces under a label called Fila Vintage. Fila Vintage clothing was launched as a Heritage fashion clothing brand reissuing the famous clothing from the archive Fila collections of the 80s. The fila match polo was brought back and features in every season. The match polo is a re-introduced each season in different colour pallets depending on the season. In the winter you may get Chinese red, phantom Grey and navy. In the summer months - yellow, white and sky blue. The fila vintage matchday jacket is another classic that collectors scramble to get hold of, in a polyester and cotton mix or a valor as in the 70's.
In the period from 2000 till 2008 when retro sports brands were bringing back their classics fila retro was at the forefront with Fila Vintage . The teenagers of the 1970's that had grown up wanted to reminisce.
Away from the court fila UK were hard promoting there new brand fila vintage. Fila Vintage moved into the movie business when it supplied the cast in the big British hits 'The Business' and 'The Firm'. The leading actors in the Business, Danny Dyer who is in many gangster style British films endorsed the label in magazines and points of sale along with Tamer Hasan who co starred in The Business and had a leading part in the film 'Layer Cake'.
At the end of the day Fila Vintage was still a retro classic sports wear brand; Fila wanted something that could be worn in the evening. Welcome, Fila Gold, a cleaner less branded range with a more modern and mature feel to it.
